Old Shirt, New Life

Have you ever had a t-shirt that you wore to death but couldn't bear to get rid of? How about one where you loved the picture, but hated the fit?  That was the case for me.  I had a Mickey Mouse t-shirt that I picked up on vacation a few years ago. LOVED the picture, couldn't stand the way it fit when I wore it.  Consequently it sat in the closet...until I decided to do this.  Now it is used on a daily basis and on display for all to see.

My favorite detail.....{on the back corner}.

Do you have a clothing item that you just can't bear to part with?  What would you do to get out of the dark corner in the closet?

Back in the Saddle

What was intended to be a break for the holidays somehow turned into a six month hiatus.  Intentions to write were there, but life for the first half of 2011 has been jam packed with family life, activities and projects that kept pushing blogging to the back burner.  The month of July is looking to be slightly less crazy so I figure what better opportunity to jump back in with both feet and see if I can keep this ball rolling. While my writing has been lacking, the many things that inspire my little corner in the design world have not.  Some days my brain goes into overload for all the ideas running amuck.

Today I just want to share a quick glimpse at some of the inspiration behind a current project. I have had the pleasure to work with a super cool friend of mine to create a playroom/school room for her three adorable munchkins. It's still a work in progress and we are having a blast!

A couple years ago I saw this wall featured on Project Nursery and instantly fell in love.  I saved the image in my inspiration file and vowed to use the idea some day.  This was the perfect jumping off point for this educational play haven. While we are creating our own version, this set is now available here on etsy.com.

The "key-off" fabric that is driving the whole color story and vibe of the space.  One more tiny tidbit of fun...a treehouse loft for the kids to hide out and snuggle down with a good picture book or two.  Again designing and constructing our own, but here's the inspiration.

Before you even have to ask, there will most definitely be pictures once everything is complete.  Have a fabulous Fourth weekend everyone!
